Derek Eadon started Sunbird Strategies in 2019. Derek is a public affairs, political campaign, and digital communications expert with over 20 years of experience, including working on four U.S. Presidential Campaigns.
Derek began working for the Iowa Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in 2006 as a door-to-door canvasser. He was later elected as Chair in 2017, becoming the youngest elected Iowa Democratic Party State Chair in history. Eadon worked for the Barack Obama campaign from 2007-2012, and served as General Election Director for President Obama's campaign in Iowa in 2012.
Derek began consulting in 2013. His clients have included: trade associations, political campaigns, labor unions, non-profits, comedy festivals, advocacy organizations, renewable energy firms, and Fortune 500 companies. Eadon served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Julián Castro's 2020 presidential campaign, in addition to working on Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign and Bernie Sanders' 2020 campaign. Eadon also worked for Small Axe Communications in London, working with the International Rescue Committee and the International Transport Workers’ Federation.

Derek lives in West Des Moines with his wife, two children, and a bulldog. He is a fan of Chicago sports teams, music, comedy, and enjoys coaching soccer.
